Jaws and Text Boxes
Hi All, I'm posting my latest discovery about accessing Word text boxes with Jaws because I encounter/battle with them in translations and know others have mentioned having trouble with them too. Text boxes are exactly what they sound like, boxes and other shapes that contain text. They can be relatively large, holding all of the text in one of the sections of a trifold brochure, or they can be and often are small, containing a picture with caption or simply a line or two of text that extends ornamentally across the top or down the side of the page. In the English language version of Jaws, pressing ctrl+shift+o now gives you a list of objects, like text boxes and images. each text box is a link, so pressing enter on it moves focus into the box. The command is listed in the Jaws hotkeys for Word (ins+h while in Word). I have Word 2007 and Jaws 11. This is definitely a relatively new command because I remember trying to find away to get into text boxes a few months ago and nothing like that jumped out at me. this discovery makes me really, really happy. I hope others of you find it useful too.
This comes from a very smart clear ttranslator and teacher of writing named Ana Garza. RantWoman specifically wants her name finable but has opted not to create easy ways to get her deluged with spam! Word.
