The Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF) and the United States International Council on Disabilities (USICD) is issuing this call to action to disability leaders across the United States to join a national strategy session on Tuesday, October 9th to discuss the important action we must take to achieve U.S. ratification of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Before the U.S. Senate left for its break to prepare for elections, the Senate leadership sent a strong signal that the Senate is taking the CRPD seriously and that it will be brought up for a final vote in the lame duck session, expected to begin November 13th.  The American disability community has worked hard to get to this point with over 250 disability organizations playing an important role in supporting this global affirmation of disability rights. If we do not achieve a vote this year, we will lose everything the community worked for in the past year.  Join this important call to help develop a strategy to get the final 6 Republican votes we need to get this treaty ratified!
