Even Oatmeal

RantWoman from time to time wanders the internet in quest for this or that recipe. SometimesRantWoman wanders from the path she thought she was on. These adventures with oatmeal are one such example.
Note: these recipes call for steel cut oats. RantWoman usually uses rolled oats. RantWoman recently made a point of using up some steel cuts lurking for a couple years on her shelf. These recipes are ALMOST enough to make RantWoman buy some more steel cut oats.
Oatmeal, kicked up. Oh wait, it's Emeril who does things kicked up. Anyway....
Steel cut or as Alton Brown says "pinhead" oats

If you have steel cut oats and 45 minutes to toast the oats and then simmer,

Oatmeal simmered overnight in a slow cooker and piping hot for breakfast sounds HEAVENLY to RantWoman. RantWoman does not own a slow-cooker but this recipe using steel cut oats, figs, dried cranberries, half and half is almost enough to tempt RantWoman to try to make counter space for one.

Culinary confessions of the "RantMom thinks this is Weird" sort: RantWoman really likes oatmeal fast for breakfast but is not such a fan of instant oatmeal. Instead RantWoman is the sort of barbarian who makes a big pot of oatmeal once a week, eats one serving, and packs the rest in single-serving containers to be reheated over the week in the microwave. RantWoman MIGHT double these recipes.
