Free Mass Care Forum May 23

Look World, Disaster Preparedness is one of the attractions on RantWoman's Yucky Topics Festival. RantWoman would be way too happy to froth at the keyboard about many other topics roiling her soul. Judging by hit counts, though, readers seem to like Disaster Preparedness so in an effort to give the public more of what they crave, from this morning's email.

Subject: Reminder: 5/23 Free Mass Care Forum - Registration Info

To: All Interested Partners

A quick reminder that the King County Mass Care Workgroup is hosting the annual Mass Care Regional Forum on Thursday, May 23, and you are invited! The goal of this free forum is to bring together government, non-profit, faith-based and other partners who would have a role in Mass Care (shelter, feeding, distribution of emergency supplies, etc.) for disasters in King County. Information will be provided and exchanged on planning efforts, emerging issues, resources, and channels for receiving and offering assistance during a disaster.

This year’s Forum features keynote speaker John Fulton from FEMA Region X sharing his experience in New York responding to Hurricane Sandy. Presentations will include an overview of the new Regional Catastrophic Mass Care Feeding Plan, an update on King County’s Regional Mass Care Response and Support, as well as highlights on new projects that will help the mass care response in this area.

There will also be an optional Mass Care 101 session from 8:00 – 9:00.

To sign up for the event, please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MassCare2013 . This information will be used to help us plan the event and to forward to you the final agenda.
