RTFM for Relish

A small RantWoman kitchen misadventure with elements of blindness tourism for everyone's holiday reading pleasure.

As part of holiday meal prep, RantWoman wanted to make cranberry relish with a new mini cuisinart the extended Rant family gave her months ago after RantWoman complained about the demise of a previous generation of wonder gadget.

Recipe: RantWoman is too darned lazy to go look up the official Ocean Spray version: one bag of fresh cranberries. One orange with the peel left on except rantWoman usually slices off the ends where the peel is extra thick. 1 cup or so of sugar, depending on tartness preferences. Grind the fruit in a food processor. Mix in the sugar. Pour into a covered container. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Not that hard.

Now, about the new gizmo. Directions?  Hah!

RantWoman put the berries in the container. RantWoman put the orange pieces in
the container. RantWoman put the container on the spindle. RantWoman put the lid on or
thought she did. RantWoman tried a few different ways.

There are ONLY two buttons. How hard could it be?

RantWoman tried again and again.

What is a good geek nerd to do but venture out into the itnerwebs, say to www.cuisinart.com?

That would be a geek nerd with a functioning home computer. RantWoman's  hard drive died awhile ago and her Android devices are not reliable for capacity to search. So Rantwoman had to get out the printed directions.

Talk about acres of tiny print. Rantwoman had to go find a magnifier. Then  RantWoman had to wade through several pages of pointless drawings. RantWoman figured there was some set of things that all needed to be lined up for a circuit to close but the drawings were NO help.

THEN RantWoman  found the small number of words needed:
Put the container on the machine first. Then put in what one wants to chop / grind. To take things apart, turn things clockwise. That meant that if RantWoman wanted to put things together, she needed to do things counterclockwise. Things worked MUCH better once RantWoman found the right small numberof words and did things in the right order.

Party!
