Dr. Terrence Roberts: Reflecting on history to inform the future
Co-sponsored by City of Bellevue, King County Library System, and Bellevue Friends of the Library.
Dr. Terrence Roberts is a member of the Little Rock Nine, the first group of African American students to desegregate Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Despite a federal court order calling for desegregation to begin on September 4th of that year, angry protesters and Arkansas National Guardsmen tried to prevent the students from entering the school. It wasn't until President Eisenhower stepped in with army soldiers that the students were able to enter. Dr. Roberts will reflect on his experience at Little Rock Central High School and share how Dr. King's vision was relevant then and now.
