Boilerplated

RantWoman needs to get one last National Disability Employment Awareness MOnth #NDEAM rant out of her system.

The bottom of this post is slightly edited boilerplate from all the job postins rantWoman looked at on a local employer's website. RantWoman invites her readers to consider all the different elements that a job applicant might need to write reasonable accommodations requests about.

RantWoman would really like to be able to say #inclusionworks especially since this boilerplate came from an organization whose central role is providing services to low income people and  people with disabilities. RantWoman is pretty sure that having some visible people with disabilities would help ensure that the organization designs services that better meet the needs of people with disabilities. But in the meantime, the boilerplate:

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities who are otherwise qualified to perform the essential functions.

•Must be able to lift 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
•Work involves standing, walking, stooping, talking, reaching, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing, grasping, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
•Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
•The work environment is part of a team collaboration of cubicles and the noise level is moderate at times.

Licenses, Certificates and other requirements:
 ·        Valid Washington State driver’s license.
·        Reliable personal transportation.
·        Proof of personal automobile liability insurance.
·        Must pass criminal background check through the Washington State Patrol.
