RantMom is home basking in hot water and puttering with her own laundry. The new knee is still healing, and RantMom just is not properly appreciative of having a frontrow seat for tragic events on Rainier Ave:
Last night, RantWoman was bustling about RantMom's kitchen when we heard A LOT of sirens. That is a bad sign. Then we heard them stop close to us, a worse sign. RantMom looked out the window while we were eating and saw one patrol car with lights flashing. RantWoman saw a little bit later that of course the patrol car was marking something fatal further down the street, at Rainier and Andover.
Tonight, RantWoman was again headed to RantMom's this time from the south. Again, at the same place as last night's tragedy more aftereffects: the bus supervisor instructed the driver just to drive through the flares, but the trolley got its wires stuck somehow. The stop in question is the last one before the one at RantMom's so RantWoman decided to just walk. For her trouble, she got the fresh news from someone at the bus stop. More ped vs vehicle, but tonight at least the pedestrian survived.
RantWoman is not crazy about the crossing at that intersection. Unfortunately, it is dark and wintry and RantWoman lives in horror of all her fellow pedestrians who go about in black and dark colors and absolutely NOTHING that would help a driver see them assuming the driver were looking or looking for even a few scant seconds! Does RantWoman have a CLUE whether this might be a factor in this case? Um no, but she's just saying...
