Earthquake preparedness in Chile

Most of the info streams RantWoman currently fish in about disaster preparedness focus in pretty narrow ways: individual preparedness, things that might happen right after a disaster.

Partly because of this run-of-the-mill info stream, RantWoman is interested occasionally to read broader debates. RantWoman herewith posts an item about Chile and the timing of various laws supporting building codes and other measures that helped reduce casualties, along with the dates of other major political events.

If RantWoman wanted to have big arguments, she could probably go find some good internet flame fests. At the moment, RantWoman is just posting this with a thought to facts in case she decides at some point later to investigate further.
