Voting Survey

RantWoman is posting this ahead of checking it out herself. A few things in the plea annoy RantWoman, but RantWoman finds many things to be annoyed about in the realm of blind people and voting. RantWoman is passing this along so that other voices besides RantWoman's will be heard.

Subject: [SIGHTLESSMT] OT: Voting survey

I think this is valuable research so wanted to spread the word for those interested in participating. There are 50 questions in the survey.

Hi there,
My name is Jill Piner, and I'm a PhD student at Rice University in Houston, TX. I work in a lab that studies how people use and interact with voting machines.

My current work involves understanding and promoting change in accessible voting technology, specifically for blind and visually impaired individuals.I'm trying to recruit people that are 18 years of age or older, and legally blind, to take 15-20 minutes completing a survey we have about their previous voting experience and what changes they feel would be most beneficial. This not only helps me with my own education and completion of my thesis, but Ihope to get the work published and into the hands of voting machine manufactures & government officials -- people who can make real changes!

However, I'vehad a difficult time reaching out and contacting members of this community. I was hoping that you would be able to assist me with this research in whatever way you feel appropriate, by forwarding this information to friends, associates, or your blog readers. The survey link can be found here, and all informationis kept strictly confidential and will only be used for academic purposes - no personally identifying information (like name, address, etc) will be collected:

Thank you so much for your time.
