RantWoman actually wants to start on a positive association. Michael Hingson is a blind telecommunications executive who speaks about teamwork. RantWoman heard him speak one time about how he and his seeing eye dog and many others made it down 89 flights of stairs in one of the World Trade Center towers. RantWoman remembers 3 elements from the speech:
As people were proceeding down the stairs, they stopped periodically to allow firefighters to run upstairs. These were the firefighters who perished when the building collapsed.
At one point, someone started to panic and everyone around the person stopped to breathe deeply and have a group hug.
After Michael and his dog made it out into open air, they ran into a woman who was blinded by the dust. Michael instructed her to hold his free arm and his seeing eye dog guided them both to safety including a full stop when the dog found some stairs.
