Good Night Irene

RantWoman has been reflecting on Hurricane Irene and especially on eerie thoughts of

--weathering a hurricane in a skyscraper. RantWoman thinks this might be even more disconcerting than being in a skyscraper during an earthquake. RantWoman has personal experience with neither and is shamelessly speculating regardless.

--closing down all public transportation including subways in New York City.

RantWoman was thinking of all this but RantWoman's media diet tends not to include up-to-the-second visuals--except when RantWoman dines at RantMom's. RantWoman was actually looking forward, last night, to just a few visuals.

RantMom had other ideas. RantMom's take previously on total immersion news coverage, "Turn off the television. You're more fun than oil spills!" RantWoman is just going to have to be touched that RantMom feels the same way about RantWoman with respect to giant hurricanes.

RantWoman allowed herself a few moments of nostalgia from her plunge into far off college life. RantWoman opted for a week of hiking before school started. Unfortunately, our camping trip got washed out of the Catskills by Hurricane David even though David was a mere wisp of a storm compared to Hurricane Irene.

RantWoman also thinks the east coast probably has more than enough moisture thank you very much and is thinking with care of large recovery efforts.
