Less Vis: Glare and Worship

RantWoman had decided she needs some form of eyewear that cuts glare--indoors. RantWoman has Transitions eyewear for outdoors, but RantWoman's house of worship has a number of features which generate LOTS and LOTS of glare indoors where the light has already passed through a layer of glass and gotten phase-shifted out of the wavelengths where the Transitions coating works properly. (Sorry: RantWoman just could not resist the physic nerd excursion.)

RantWoman REALLY needs to do something about the glare issues at her house of worship. For one thing, RantWoman's faith community right now is already reminding RantWoman of all the unholy reasons she REALLY needs a faith community; RantWoman is not even going to comment about what her faith community may think of RantWoman. RantWoman cannot even see any glaring human issues that may be going on. More to the point, RantWoman's personal religious experience and faith journey, not to mention the howling pain in her glare-tormented eyeballs sometimes tempt RantWoman to ... do Sudoku during worship!

This practice is much commented upon, usually by people not even interested in pretending to want to become privy to the eyeball vexations RantWoman is trying to manage. RantWoman feels no obligation to explain in the first place. In the second place, even though the glare and various other visual effects are a vexation to manage, RantWoman keeps grumbling under her breath AND having "count your blessings" pounded into her head: see RantWoman can ALMOST see enough to do Sudoku in fat pen in puzzle books with print large enough. Well, almost but definitely subject to some mistakes related to poor fixation, imperfect focus, and related realities. In other words, RantWoman is QUITE unrepentant about and even darn glad just to be able to do the Sudoku; this probably does not help about glaring humans either.

Fortuitously, tonight people on one of RantWoman's blindness email lists are gushing about the wonders of amber eyeglasses for cutting glare. RantWoman has no actual money to spend, but thanks to the internet RantWoman can shop to her heart's content from the convenience of her very own desk.

This page lists all of our safety glasses with Yellow lenses, also called Amber by many brands. Because of its ability to make your environment appear brighter, it is commonly used in low light conditions. Like orange, copper, and brown lenses, it effectively blocks much of the blue light that can cause haze or reduce sharpness, thereby enhancing contrast and depth perception. Not recommended for bright light conditions, or areas where accurate color recognition is critical. You can sort the page by Most Popular, Name (alphabetical order), or Price. Please click on an item for details and to order. For Indoor/Outdoor use. VLT = 78-87%
