Celebratory Infographic, without comments about esthetics or accessibility
Please Appreciate the American Translators Association International Translation Day infographic above. RantWoman has no comment about esthetics.
Next, RantWoman invites readers to put
International Translation Day
into the search engine of their choice for a wide variety of ways to learn more about translation and interpretation, good services, vocabulary management, translation memories and text corpus.
And this is RantWoman:
--Consider what a Difficult Client the current occupant of the White House probably is. #POTUS45 has continual problems with word salad, utterances that sometimes do not coalesce into enough sentence structure for a skilled interpreter easily to rearrange as needed when crossing boundaries between languages.
Lately #POTUS45 has also made a couple, probably more than a couple statements that would cause RantWoman to burst out laughing and thus disable all responsible interpreting reflexes. The Orange One recently suggested to, RantWoman believes, the Spanish Foreign Minister that Spain should build a wall across the Sahara desert to cut down on migration from Africa.
Nor should readers forget The Orange One's self-aggrandizement recently at the UN General Assembly. #UNGA. RantWoman guesses that if one's comment is going to evoke waves of titters, first among English speakers and then among people relying on interpretation, being able to laugh about the problem is probably an asset. Still, RantWoman could do with a LOT fewer "Oh GOOD GRIEF" moments (about A LOT of things), but this president has to date not asked RanTWoman about her preferences.
