Here are some topical RantWoman comments, slightly adapted from suggestions to a pretty new voter.
RantMom now lives in unincorporated King County and therefore does not get to vote on Seattle levies. RantMom would say ALWAYS vote for the school levy.
Social Housing. This vote has a couple parts.
1.. Should there be some kind of tax to go toward more housing. You can vote no and not worry about the next part. The basic point is to tell the mayor and city council that yes, we want to spend tax money on more housing. There are other ways to fund more housing but those are not working fast enough and the housing costs more.
2.. If there is a tax, should it be option 1A, that taxes people who have really a lot of money.Obviously people who have a lot of money don't want to pay more taxes so they are spending a lot of money telling people that option 1A is a bad idea. (RantWoman gets some of the reasons this might be a bad idea but can live with the possibility.)
Or should it be Option 1B provides less money and draws from the already strapped general fund. Lots of people in Seattle are mad because we already voted on a measure that was supposed to go for housing. But instead the mayor and city council basically said thanks for the money. We are going to vote to spend it on police and not on problems that can't be solved with just policing.
RantWoman is aware of possibly oversimplifying and encourages readers to make up your own minds.
