EPIC cordially invites young people and
communities of color to join us at the Restorative Justice Town
hall on August 19th. The current system is broken.
Come on out to build around what Restorative Justice really means, where it
comes from, and what it can do for our communities.
This event is co-sponsored by
Ending Prison Industrial Complex
(EPIC) and
Rainier Beach Action Coalition
(RBAC). The Townhall will take place at
Urban Impact
in Rainier Beach, 7728 Rainier Ave. S. Doors open at 5:30 and the program will
start at 6:00 p.m. Emcees for this event will be
Saroeum
Phoung of Center for Ethical Leadership and
Senait
Brown from EPIC and Blackout WA. Presenters will
include Angola Dixon, Dominique Davis of the Diversion 180 Program, Gregory
Davis of Rainier Beach Action Coalition, and Afam Ayika of Real Change
and EPIC.
Attatched is
- A clip of Dominique Davis talking about "Diversion 180", an Alternative to
Detention model (Dominique will be one of the speakers at town hall and
available to answer questions about the program he runs)
- A flyer and article about the Restorative Justice Townhall on 8/19.
- A news story and an article from the August 6th NAACP/EPIC No New Youth Jail
press conference.
We need more community led prevention and alternative to detention
programs, not New Youth Jails.
