Survey me again!

To set the tone, or at least the aspiration, please appreciate a reprise and update about the heartwarming story of successful complaining and survey taking presented here.

The after picture as of several years after. Hover mouse over picture for description.

Glorious Bus Stop with no nasty mud pit.

It’s The Holiday Season and RantWoman is trying hard to get into the spirit of the season. So far, besides cyclical visit to a medical provider, RantWoman is doing really well about peeved, petulant, peculiarly argumentative, and only fun to be around for other people in similar humor. Since this is Planet RantWoman there are people available in similar humor, but definitely not everyone.

Glorious sidewalk from bus stop to front entrance. No more walking in the Fire Lane

RantWoman wandered into a really interesting discussion on Twitter about Santa Claus, Jewish, Muslim, and even some It’s a Religious Holiday Dammit Christian kids, magic, who gets asked to help preserve whose lies / magic. RantWoman thinks the threads of discussion need more untangling, but that is beyond RantWoman tonight.

Instead please appreciate RantWoman’s umpteenth meditation on surveys. RantWoman just does not slide easily into survey boxes. Does not matter the topic of the survey. Does not matter the format, paper or electronic, RantWoman is just going to be Out of the Box somehow.

RantWoman is willing more often than might be helpful to scrape her eyeballs across surveys and respond in fat pen in scribble font. This means RantWoman’s responses are unlikely to fit into any pre-determined printed boxes. However, this approach does ensure that if RantWoman needs to add an “other” category or insist on “None of the Above,” or “It depends” that option is available, even if RantWoman winds up scribbling all over some or another part of the survey.

Alas, recently RantWoman learned of an electronic version of a surveyin her faith community and requested the link. The link arrived by email.

The survey is a Google Form. RantWoman’s experience with Google Forms accessibility #a11y is uneven in the first place and probably affected by some software upgrades in the second place. Not something RantWoman expects the survey creator to solve. One of these days RantWoman will troubleshoot. In the meantime, RantWoman will scrape wonky eyeballs over the screen.

RantWoman will scrape wonky eyeballs…until…all of the questions have required answers. RantWoman does not LIKE any of the choices and only some of the questions give RantWoman either Other or None of the Above options. But since all the questions have required answers, it is still not possible to save one’s results.

Fabulous. Off to a terrific start. Nothing personal. About average usability experience actually. RantWoman will now migrate to her other blog and froth at the keyboard in terms specific to her faith community and theology. Fun, yet?
