Adios Copa Mundial

Inspired by all of RantWoman's connections who watched the World Cup final.
Was it a good game?
For the side that won. The other side played badly.
So RantWoman heard.
Also, President #StableGenius got booed. He also fell asleep. He was rooting for Argentina. Was this because Argentine president Javier Milei is a giant groupie of #DonSnorelone while Spain has firmly said "No" about lending airspace to ill-advised military campaigns? Is the curse of the President's team preferences? On the bright side, someone managed to herd #DementiaDon off camera during the trophy presentation.
RantWoman loved the idea of turning whole sections of cities into giant watch parties. RantWoman also avoided travel around watch parties she did not care to attend. RantWoman loves the idea of nerding out about one sport and getting more fulsome national stories than the olympics where there are dozens of sports and hundreds of athletes.

Let's see:
RantWoman is intrigued by the possibility to rent clothing appropriate for the climate. Waterfalls are fun to look at over breakfast when one is warm and dry; RantWoman is glad to see Blanche has scored both an insulate jacket and a proper hooded raincoat. She has clearly needed both several times even though it is JUNE, a time when people in the northern hemisphere naively expect SUMMER.
RantWoman is glad to view the tour map on a big screen. Even though YouTube is full of videos about all the apps one might need besides Google, in RantWoman's fantasy life it would be possible to have the journey mapped out in Google if only so that people who stumble over Icelandic placenames have a frame of reference that could be navigated in more detail.
Likewise RantWoman needs a big screen to appreciate the bingo card and the "Pose at your Own Risk" warning on the side of the trip vehicle.
The video of Blanche camping out showed up in RantWoman's media streams the day after one of the hottest evenings so far in Seattle. The evening also featured a power outage. Seeing Blanche camping out made RantWoman feel much cooler and also touched some very fond memories from childhood of camping out during a big storm with siblings and cousins.
Day 2: Blanche chomped into something blue that she just pulled out of the ground. What was that? Considering all the YouTube comments along the lines of "Dear tourists, please don't do that," is anyone worried about swarms of tourists showing up to munch on the local flora?
RantWoman needs more narrative. RantWoman understands perfectly well that this excursion is about PHOTOGRAPHY. RantWoman also traffics as much in words as in pictures.
RantWoman has about a kazillion science nerd kid questions:
--Where does all the water in the waterfalls come from?
--Do the glaciers get renewed or are they shrinking like LOTS of other glaciers around the planet?
--Is there any kind of map or info source that talks about how easy or hard the hikes to key observation points are?
--Is it common to find whalebones on the beach?
--Do people wear waterproof eye gear when soaking in the lagoons. RantWoman is twitchy about what does or does not get into her eyes but would prefer not to look like a total dork about handling her concerns.

Like most of the US keyboard wranglers on the internet, RantWoman HAS THINGS TO SAY about the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the state of the US and the world as of today.
Today's eruptions:
1. is it ever unpatriotic to root for the algae?
2. The RantWoman Department of First World Problems refuses to opine about world news until the NY Times GIVES HER THE DANG CROSSWORD PUZZLE. The opportunity to complain choked about some aspect of Android accessibility but yielded a boilerplate spam about a whole bunch of things that might be wrong due to them making articles about the Middle East Peace deal gift links for literally everyone. And RantWoman STILL does not have today's crossword puzzle.
3. RantWoman does NOT share the outrage erupting about the #DonSnoreleone memorandum of understanding about the Iran War. Before we get to the substance of RantWoman's perspective though, let us also take note of the flood of videos about how badly President #StableGenius is performing at the #G7 summit. The most charitable way to start would just be to note that at age 80, no one should be expected to party the evening away for their birthday and hop on a plane to look all perky for an international summit while dragging jet lag and no sleep.
Please. though, dear readers indulge RantWoman: between international embarrassment at the #G7 summit and outrage from so many quarters about the #MemorandumOfUnderstanding, has the US FINALLY hit the kind of tipping point that can find #GrandpaSleepyhead a smooth glide toward genteel retirement with as many naps as he needs and as much golf as he can do? Hear that Mr. #DonOld?

Long ago RantWoman had a really good day at a surprise opportunity in Copenhagen to buy shoes that fit! RantWoman did other fun, but also foreshadowing things in Copenhagen. RantWoman, alas, did not make it to LegoLand. Now, though it's time for a shout out to Lego and to Denmark, and to all the teams trying to play soccer / football / futbol in spite of all the US realities RantWoman is embarrassed, appalled, disgusted, outraged... about.
RantWoman is not up on the latest Lego corporate position about use of their products in these videos. Frankly, considering all the grief President #StableGenius is giving Denmark and Greenland, RantWoman hopes the songs boost Lego sales.
Judging by astoundingly low counts of views and likes, RantWoman assumes algorithms are suppressing content. So BE BOLD readers. Watch Listen. Wish people would join the choir. Because the more people who watch the harder the content is to suppress, the less room there is for lies and BS.

RantWoman is so disgusted by US government behavior about visas, requirements to post a bond, and heaven knows what else that her head is about to explode.
Add to that the ridiculous DOGE cuts to USAID, President #StableGenius withdrawing from the World Health Organization, and an #Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Do not forget the whole subject of treatment for US citizens, and only US citizens at a US airbase in Kenya and Secretary Rubio's whining that no #Ebola cases will enter the US. Not like there are not perfectly find quarantine options and people capable of screening for symptoms at airports. Now
Secretary Rubio wants other European countries to impose the same overwrought travel ban the US is trying to impose.
Good for you Belgium for telling Secretary Rubio to go pound sand with his threats to impose travel bans on any European country that won't fall in line with US lunacy (and who,, probably DO pay their WHO dues.)
As an aside RantWoman means to post a couple sets of Seattle area transportation tips for people who might not be getting the full gamut from other media streams. RantWoman intends to get that done before the first matches in Seattle.

RantWoman is definitely in favor of high standards to get a driver's license. RantWoman appreciates the commentary here about accident rates in different countries and why immigrants from some countries with better road safety statistics than the US might not be forced to retake their driving tests to drive in Ohio.
RantWoman also grumbles "oh, cry me a river" about people who complain about decent standards.
RantWoman has little information about how non-drivers survive in OH.
