RantMom has moved!
Thanks to a Very Sad / Humblingly happy circumstance
involving a long-beloved friend of the RantFamily, RantMom has MOVED. RantMom
has moved to North Seattle, to a corner where theMetro Rt 372 goes by every 15
minutes a lot of the day. The 372 means…it is now easy for RantMOm to Ride the
Light Rail.
RantMom has travelled back and forth from Rainier
valley to the U district regularly for quite some time but she has, until now,
not been willing to include the Light Rail in her travel routings. This means
especially during evening rush hour that she spends WAY more time on the bus
than would please RantWoman.
Today though RantMom was motivated: if she would
ride the Light Rail she could connect easily to a ride to Bible Study at a
retirement community all the way in Renton. Plus it was sunny early in the day
and the walk from the closest 372 stop on campus to the Light Rail looked
easily doable.
Bingo! RantMom was THRILLED to go from Husky Stadium
to Othello in less time than it would have taken her to go just downtown.
RantWoman is thrilled that the walk feels doable because of course it is GOOD
for RantMom (and for RantWoman) to walk whenever possible.
HOWEVER, sometimes the weather is excreable.
Sometimes something gets in the way of enthusiasm for walking. For those
moments, RantWoman notes the following Trip Planner hack:
Ride the 372 to the end of the line on Campus
Parkway.
Cross Campus Parkway to where the 65 route begins.
Ride the 65 around past the UW Medical Center to a stop right near the Light
Rail entrance. RantWoman has no idea whether this routing would show up if one sought
a Trip Planner routing with minimal walking. RantWoman does not care enough to
look it up. RantWoman simply crafted an email to RantMom to help her remember
because RantMom might or might not interact with Trip Planning options on her
phone. Maybe RantWoman and Little Sister will up our tutorial game…
PS. On the way home, RantMom braved the overpass and
found the northbound 71. The 372 is a shorter trip and goes more often, but the
71 goes by Little Sister’s new digs too.
