Squash, sirens

This afternoon's squash imagery is (choose one or more)

--Appreciation of fall bounty

--A way for RantWoman to distract herself from...

--Today's attempt to make all of life better by turning it into tactile graphics.

--All of the above and more.

First, enjoy the squash. If you need to, go find a recipe.

The first sirens

RantWoman did not hear the first sirens. RantWoman was told they happened early in the morning. RantWoman was also told the first sirens were because of a fire in one of of the car camping vehicles near RantWoman's apartment building.

Such is the level of local dystopia that the phrase "car camping vehicles" is a thing.

The second sirens

The second sirens were mid-afternoon. They were close enough that RantWoman wondered, okay, who is it this time?

But the sirens did not come all the way to RantWoman's building. They stopped somewhere nearby. The Lighthouse for the Blind, to be precise. The sirens, it turned out were because a wonderful, relentlessly positive promoter of many worthy blindness efforts (beep baseball, employment at the Lighthouse, blind consumer groups...)  had a massive heart attack and could not be revived.

RantWoman's social media streams are full of remembrances. RantWoman sends condolences to a wife and children.

And when RatntWoman is taking nothing for granted, RantWoman notes that she is pretty sure the guy who passed is younger than RantWoman. Ummm....
