RantWoman here offers
--General commentary about Seattle snow preparedness this year compared to last year.
--The #SharedShovel Campaign rocks in terms of getting people go plan ahead, stock up on snow shovels and make plans to Deal WIth Snow
--RantWoman saw a great Twitter thread with photos AND alt text of conditions in Kirkland and wonders how many surrounding cities which often get more snow also really, really, really need #SharedShovel campaigns of their own.
--RantWoman's efforts to assemble provisions ahead of the expected SEVERE (by Seattle standards) cold and coming Snowpocalypse. #SeattleSnow
--RantWoman has leftovers that will get combined and turned into soup. Okay. Good Intentions, the leftovers did not get turned into soup until well after the lowland #Snowpocalypse melted away.
--RantWoman had an eggplant in the refrigerator for several days. In the spirit of turning ingredients into food before the storm, the eggplant got turned into ratatouille which may get eaten with the brown rice RantWoman also cooked.
--And the truly bold and daring move, RantWoman bought rutabagas, wound up deciding NOT to serve the recipe she found online at her potluck, but did cook, mash, add eggs, cream, sweetening, and gluten free pancake mix (instead of bread crumbs). and bake before the storm. RantWoman has been to Finland a couple times and knows people who recommend the mashed rutabaga casserole, but RantWoman has no other personal connections.
Still, mashing boiled rutabagas is a great excuse to have a potato masher taking up drawer space. Plus the casserole seems an interesting way both to be well- if unconventionally nourished and to think about Finnish winter reasons to be glad to be in Seattle even if it is stormy out.
Here is the original recipe for Lanttulaatikko, Finnish Rutabaga Casserole
Speaking of things that are high in fiber and protein, RantWoman thought of adding lentil brownies to turn ingredients into food efforts, but that did not happen. Anyway, the RantWoman menu may sound a little eccentric, but enjoy!
And for Extra Grins, RantWoman and the Queen of Spades live across the hall from a toddler who is now MOBILE. Toddler seems quite curious about the Queen of Spades. The curiosity is NOT mutual. The toddler is not quite big enough to understand that if he just stays still and does not chase the cat maybe she will come to him. Just the extra spice to add to our blizzard experience?
