Elizabeth Jennings Graham
RantWoman is being a good little media creature and grabbing hold of a wonderful historical figure she learned about from her morning public radio fix. Elizabeth Jennings Graham desegregated New York city streetcars almost a century before Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of a bus in Montgomery AL.The Woman who Refused to Leave a Whites-Only Streetcar almost a century before Rosa Parks

Elizabeth Jennings Graham had pretty impressive parents too.
RantWoman figured out she should blog Elizabeth Jennings Graham after she had already embarked on a Presidents' Day tactile graphics exercise devoted to George Washington. Somehow, to RantWoman, it seems fitting to highlight the life of a proud African-American hero on a day when we also celebrate a first president who owned slaves and one who presided over the demise, more or less, of slavery.
The rest of this post is just timely tactile graphics esoterica.
Isn't RantWoman a fun read?
Presidents' day Tactile Graphics Exercise: George Washington
Start with the Google. Find images. Find line drawings. Marvel at the variety of images available if one wanted to have a tactile graphics lesson about caricature.George Washington |
The second image is just RantWoman loading the first image into the tactile graphics software, click and dragging it out to more or less fill a page, and adding Happy Presidents' Day 2020 in the Braille Label field.
Turns out RantWoman was WRONG about that image coming out well. RantWoman has no idea what happened and did not waste time troubleshooting the entirely blank page. that came out.
Instead, RantWoman used the Convert to Line drawing filter and got the third image which turned out nicely as a tactile image. Happy Presidents' Day all.
