Saturday Mask-erade

Happy Saturday world even if getting around to posting does not happen until Sunday.

Exercise

RantWoman late afternoon after multiple phone calls realized that a walk in a nearby park was not going to happen and RantWoman was going to have to make the best of a brisk walk back and forth on her breezeway. By make the most of, RantWoman means:

Today's Mask attempt

--"When will the computer lab be open?" at least twice in clear English and another time in halting English. We WILL reopen but we cannot open until the governor lifts the Stay at Home order. (RantWoman to herself: not even if we all wear masks and disinfect..because having to go somewhere and pay money to do what should be ...?)

--"Do you need me to let you into the building?" Person was obviously delivering something. "No, we don't go into ANY buildings." "Okay, stay well; stay safe." 'THANK YOU." It took another several laps before the transaction was complete.

--Wearing masks is more common around RantWoman's building. RantWoman noticed both a deaf-blind and a blind neighbor wearing masks. But the practice is still uneven and Inconsistent. Like RantWoman has a lot of room to talk. Today after considerable rummaging where yesterday's mask was supposed to be, RantWoman settled on a plain bandana folded starting on the diagonal. This was not satisfactory. RantWoman spent all day trying to keep her mask up when she was outside and will try something else tomorrow.

Elevators

The sunshine was glorious. The elevators are not.

Every time the automatic fire alarm goes off, the elevator gets recalled to the main floor. The elevator is supposed to get reset when the fire department keys off the alarm. This did not happen Thursday night when RantWoman's next door neighbor left a pot on his stove, set off his alarm, filled the whole hallway with smoke.  For some reason one elevator was still working--until tonight when another fire alarm went off. Now both elevators are stuck on the floor with the main entrance. They are stuck until Monday,. Too much fun. RantWoman will be getting exercise on 4 flights of stairs. RantWoman's neighbor and many others cannot do stairs. RantWoman is supposed to be grateful since she has been whining about need exercise and about #CarOwnerVirus all over everything promising "Drive Through Only."

Update! THANK YOU to the Fire Department for whatever they did on a return visit that DID get the elevators moving. RantWoman will still add walking the stairs more often to her good intentions about exercise, but RantWoman is VERY glad all her neighbors with mobility impairments can go back and forth betwen public spaces and sheltering in place more freely and not get stuck in places like the lobby where it is harder to do social distancing.

Pandemic Food: Food bank scrounge.

RantWoman has a friend who is very good at making the most of food bank offerings. Today she decided she was too good at it and 4, count them, 4 bags of her scroungings came to RantWoman. RantWoman decided to pluck prime items all into one bag and let her neighbors have at the rest.
