WA Council of the Blind 2020 Scholarship Applications Now Open

The WA Council of the Blind 2020 Scholarship application is now live.The opportunity to apply for this scholarship is available to anyone that qualifies:

1. Are you legally blind in both eyes with best correction?

2. Have you been a resident of Washing state for the previous 11 months or longer at the time of application?

3. Will you be attending a college/university or vocational school for the academic year 2020-2021? (You do not have to be attending college in WA)

The application is located on the WA Council of the Blind website  if you tap or click on the menu and scroll down to where it says scholarship you will find a link there to the application as well.

The form requests that people upload the following documents or email them to the address listed below.

1. Acceptance Letter from the college, university or vocational school where the applicant will be attending for the 2020-21 academic year.

2. Transcript from the school you attended last year.

3. An eye report from an Ophthalmologist or VR counselor staying that you are legally blind. This should also include visual acuity.

4. A 1000 word essay. Tell the committee about yourself! Tell about what your major is and what kind of leadership roles you have had.

5. 2 separate reference letters. They need to be professional reference letters. They can be from a counselor, teacher/professor, supervisor. Not your best friend or a family member.

 The Scholarship committee will be accepting applications now through 11:59 PM on Monday, June 15, 2020. In the past we have awarded as much as $5,000 to a single individual. The award money's can be used for things like buying new needed technology for school, tuition, books, supplies and even
transportation.

Along with your application we ask that you provide 6 documents. They are listed within the
application. These documents need to be emailed directly to the scholarship committee at scholarshipwcb@yahoo.com Without the necessary documents your application is not complete and will not be considered without the supporting documents.
