Chewy Items for the Binge Blog Effort

RantWoman is not quite meeting her binge blog one post a day goal #NDEAM #PedestrianSafetyMonth National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. RantWoman has also learned that it is  National Women Entrepreneur Month and also National Arts and Humanities Month. In other words, if RantWoman's nerves were not already being hypervigilant due to #CovidIdiots #Coronapalooza, and various threads of political chicanery, RantWoman could completely go to town just being aware. RantWoman does not have energy to do all that.

Nevertheless, the rains are upon us and Saturday looks like it's going to be good for coffee and munching into chewy media content. With that in mind, a couple different items to munch into.

An Article from an academic journal of ethics. RantWoman started to read. The article is very academic, but RantWoman really likes the directions it heads. RantWoman invites comments and MAY manage to riff in more detail but probably not tonight.

Interview with the blind student Supreme Court Amy Coney Barrett mentored at Notre Dame law school.

The Supreme Court, the ADA, and Job discrimination at Religious Schools

For anyone, particularly anyone with a disability, whose faith community is reminding them of why they need a faith community, an article regarding the Supreme Court, the ADA and faith communities. Okay the article is about job discrimination, but RantWoman has more to say.

At this point in the age of increasingly universal technologies to facilitate accommodations for many different disabilities, RantWoman is happy to argue in many cases , the same accommodations are needed and the same technologies are used regardless of whether a person is participating in the life of their faith community or at work or serving in a volunteer role. What a perfect opportunity for people to learn!

RantWoman admits to having an "I am not a lawyer but.." reflection on the WA State antidiscrimination law RCW 49.60 as well. For one thing, while sections of the ADA exempt religious organizations, under RCW 49.60 . religious organizations are public accommodations. RantWoman already has a decent amount of life experience both cold calling lawyers about unusual topics and then having to press about various reasonable accommodations issues. So the next iteration of thinking about what tests might apply, "undue burden" or the reasonable accommodations listed above or ... is going to need way more thought than is going to occur tonight.

Foot Wound Unpaid Labor

Sarah Silverman's Dad Asked for Trump's Tax Accountant's Number
And a video about a family member taking care of her father's foot wound, presumably related to diabetes. RantWoman has plopped it here with the other articles only as an exhortation to hang onto what we have for health insurance so that people with diabetes get proper treatment and not risk amputations. For #NDEAM, remember good jobs include insurance, pay real wages, not subminimum wages...
