How to Observe Black Friday: the uplifting part.

RantWoman is not entirely charmed by the switch in her inbox from torrents of political fundraising pleas to streams of "Get your Black Friday shopping done early and online." invitations.

Most years RantWoman tends more toward "Buy Nothing Day" than toward "shop till you drop. But this year the commercial come-ons have gotten tangled both with thoughts of someone somewhere extracted black ink from all the circumstances damming up the flow of commerce and the "Black Lives Matter civil rights reckoning.

RantWoman wishes she by herself were in a position to offer civic atonement for everyone hassled for "shopping while Black." But RantWoman's business mind, such as it is realized the shopping frenzy of the day might be a perfect excuse to find some #BIPOC-owned business and put money there!

The first such business that came to RantWoman's mind is Brown Girl Cooks.

That Brown Girl Cooks

Thanksgiving leftovers aside, RantWoman is a little tired both of her own cooking and of not having anyone else obvious to cook for. RantWoman remembers Brown Girl Cooks appreciatively from a community event at the Mount Baker light rail station and from an event they catered. So RantWoman whipped a search engine into action to see what's up.

No one is having parties for them to cater. They are not distributing product in local stores BUT they are doing free takeaway meals for anyone who needs them on Thursdays and Saturdays.from 2-6 pm at 2022 Martin Luther King Way South.

Just get the text from the webpage. But how to describe the dish?

RantWoman is glad to read ... and will try about coming up with cash herself. RantWoman definitely encourages others to contribute cash as you can and to stop by for meals if you can't. Unfortunately, RantWoman also needs to offer a little free advice about the Brown Girl Cooks website.

--some links are not labelled.

--Some images do not have alt text. RantWoman gets that for most people a picture is worth a thousand words. RantWoman thinks writing alt text that both conveys the visual content and has the same make one want to come try the food effect as the pictures is an art, but...

RantWoman with her screen reader was still able to read plenty of the site, enough to encourage people to donate if you can and to drop by for a meal if you need it. Blessings all for the holidays.
