It's been awhile since RantWoman has dispatched any pandemic postcards, so here goes, with a few just genius moments:
Genius moment 1:
Long ago during a major remodel the parking lot at RantWoman's building got redone. This greatly improved everything about the surface of the parking lot--except drainage. Drainage! Now instead of a nice curb the edge of the parking lot runs right into the sidewalk on the breezeway. This is awesome only if one prefers slippery walkways with random streams of water when one is trying safely to exercise without getting wet. Sigh.

Genius moment 2
There was supposed to be a flu shot clinic in RantWoman's building today. There were even signs about it in Chinese as well as English. The problem: some of the signs in Chinese got posted well above RantWoman's eye level and therefore certain also well above eye level for anyone who can actually read Chinese. RantWoman long ago like in August got her flu shot and has no idea whether the same is also true of many neighbors.
Genius moment 3:
Yeah texting! RantWoman and some of her peers in other buildings have been loudly suggesting that texting may be more reliable than email for reaching more of the people the powers that be need to reach. So this morning RantWoman got a text saying a planned flu clinic has been cancelled due to new restrictions. Ummm. The nes restrictions take effect at 11:59 on 11/16/2020. RantWoman would think MAYBE it makes sense to hurry up and do the flu clinic before the restrictions take effect.
Genius moment 4:
RantWoman has not exactly been hoarding basic supplies. RantWoman has, sometimes, when she sees a good supply of something basic and she has some increment of extra funds, bought say two items when she would usually buy only one. This week the item was toothpaste. RantWoman was so happy to see what looked like a supply of her favorite brand that she bought two tubes.
At home RantWoman realized she had bought Child toothpaste. What is the difference between child toothpaste and the regular kind RantWoman has been brushing her teeth with since well back into her childhood in the middle of the last century? BUBBLE GUM flavor! And not even particularly good bubble gum flavor. RantWoman will now endure this flavor for the duration of the pandemic or at least until she runs out of both the tubes she bought. MAYBE if RantWoman is lucky she can find a child to give the unopened box to for Christmas.
Other moment of note:
Shhh: Don't tell RantMom yet but MAYBE family will be able to schedule some outdoor socially distanced visits at her retirement community. Remember, the RantFamily has lived experience with winter in places like MT and CO so we can probably figure out how to dress for the weather.
Apparently the parking garage does not meet someone's requirement and a couple other things still need to get worked out. RantWoman emailed back: RantMom uses a walker. Little Sister uses a wheelchair. RantWoman uses a white cane and does not get really excited about trip-trapping along probably muddy and tree root riddled paths. So the smoother the routes from inside and from the street, the better. Stay tuned.
