Happy #WorldBrailleDay.
The Braille Supplies in RantWoman's purse |
Unlike some years, RantWoman basically ignored the progression around the world of the New Year. RantWoman was not actually asleep or particularly flummoxed by the endless crackle of fireworks around her. RantWoman just was not appropriately interested.
World Braille Day is another matter entirely. RantWoman has been having great fun watching celebratory tweets roll in from Mumbai, Chennai, Sweden, Madrid (ONCE), Buenos Aires. The RNIB in Briitain as a matter of course captions all their photos. That is not uniformly true even for World Braille Day.
Some faves from fast foray into Twitter and also a list of calendar resources.

And no, people experiencing midlife vision loss do not instantly become adept at Braille. Braille makes RantWoman's pattern brain very happy. RantWoman also sometimes attempts to take notes in Braille, particularly if she does not want others to read over her shoulder. In general, RantWoman reads Braille very slowly and lord help us all if anyone asks RantWoman to write correct UEB, the most modern Braille notation in the US.
