Old fireworks photo from West Seattle Blog |
RantWoman recently received a lovely invitation to watch fireworks with some newly retired doctor friends at their new to them post downsize retirement condo. Before RantWoman can even decide about accepting the invitation it's time for Trip Planner Bakeoff.
RantWoman fed the new address into Google mostly because Google is easier to use on her phone than the Metro trip planner. RantWoman received back:
--The Redfin listing for what RantWoman presumes was the most recent sale price. RantWoman is not particularly surprised except for the part about not really needing to know the information in the first place.
--Two different proposed bus routings that suggested taking either a 45 minute walk or taking Lyft from the W Seattle Junction.
--A map showing the address's proixmity to Alki Point, where RantWoman has previously traveled to visit another friend. That suggested to RantWoman with wonky eyeballs and screen enlargement software on a computer that she should see what the Metro trip planner has to say. Sure enough: the Metro trip planner added a third bus leg that took RantWoman to the same stop she goes to to visit her other fried. That map has detailed directions for a walk that is just under 2/3 of a mile. RantWoman's friend is a big walker, so RantWoman could quiz her about sidewalk conditions. But the night of the party it will still be plenty daylight enough that RantWoman is happy to chance it about just walking.
Now the getting home part: RantWoman really wants to try getting there on her own. RantWoman is less adventurous when it's dark and Lyft will probably be doing surge pricing. So, but if RantWoman goes she feels responsible to get herself home. HOWEVER, RantWoman thinks odds are pretty good that someone at the party could give RantWoman a ride at least to the Junction and maybe further. So....does RantWoman just ask the hostess about that possibility? Stay tuned...
