Lexicography Thunder Runs and British idioms: Ukraine's Devastating New Tactic

RantWoman is acutely aware that there are many good reasons #PWD, people with disabilities opt for self-employment. One advantage of being nominally self-employed: in RantWoman's case, RantWoman gets to turn her current news junkie fixations into vocabulary development sessions. Even though RantWoman is working at language access in other ways besides translation and interpretation, RantWoman prides herself on having a pretty good sense of when there are clumps of people in a room who might traffic in vocabulary from different domains, when it can be RantWoman's job just to speak up, name that and make space for people to ask questions.

One of RantWoman's current news fixations is, surprise?, the war in Ukraine. RantWoman is collecting bits of coverage from different nations' perspectives, samples of what seem to be AI or machine translation, and videos that just represent interesting vocabulary.

Consider the example below.

Warning: readers who prefer not to attend to the details of conventional war may wish to note the terminology and skip the video. The video rather matter-of-factly covers the history of several war moments in different places.
