RantWoman is chagrined by the wave of dragophobia sweeping the nation, the number of states whose legislators have fallen down a rabbit hole of fear of and explicit discrimination against people who dress in clothing common to people of the opposite gender.
RantWoman points out that both in ancient Greece and in Shakespearean times, female roles were customarily played by men dressed as women. Customary clothing for men of previous centuries in Europe and the colonies featured a lot of hose and wigs. Only late in childhood did RantWoman learn that all those winged figures in robes in a lot of Christian art are also male rather than female.
With that as commentary, please enjoy this clip of comedian Steve Hofstetter performin in drag at a recent show in Tenessee. He nails both what is wrong with women's clothing: no pockets, and what is wrong with men's restrooms.
As far as shopping for clothes, most drag performers RantWoman has ever encountered are way more proficient and obsessive shoppers than it would ever occur to RantWoman even to aim for. That said, if any drag performer in a state trying to ban drag performances needs help shopping for clothes, RantWoman is happy to offer such mail order expertise as she can summon. RantWoman also can easily envision flocks of drag performers doing interstate performance flash mobs just on principle. Imagine!
