Victory Day Snark with reruns during Writers' Strike "A Very Cold War Christmas" - A Late Show Animated Holiday Classic

May 9th is observed as Victory Day, a day of victory on the eastern front over Nazi Germany. The holiday is usually observed in Russia and some other states of the former Soviet Union, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Israel, and Mongolia.

RantWoman is saying usually because her media streams are full of contradictory and sometimes satirical statements about plans not to observe it in many Russian cities this year because, well, victory is not exactly a thing for Russia in Ukraine.

RantWoman feels mild obligation to do a few more increments of research about the details of the victory events in 1945 and about potential for disruptions from various directions if events go ahead in Russia.

RantWoman freely admits that posting the item below is way darned snarky and out of season. If RantWoman gets time, she MAY do further research for more nuanced commentary before the actual Victory Day. Please understand, the post is also ardent hope for a just, prompt end to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and for steps to rebuild.

This is set to post early in the morning Seattle time, by which time whatever happens in Russia will be underway.
