Just in Time for Next Week's Great Washington Shakeout

With a bunch of new neighbors and a bunch of new staff, it's time to...brush up on community disaster awareness

RantWoman did not herself feel the recent small earthquake in Seattle, but apparently her building did: RantWoman went to try to open her apartment door which usually swings freely. After the earthquake, it got stuck in a couple places.

Also, just in time for the #GreatShakeout, RantWoman's building is also quite appropriately undergoing FIRE ALARM TESTING.

RantWoman is not sure whether the new less ear-piercing signals are permanent or just for demonstration. Accompanying language is gentler than previous language, EXCEPT for the part about "evacuate...use the stairs. Don't use the elevator.

But WAIT! The Chief Morale Officer, Mr. Accessible Restrooms, and people in RantWoman's life who use wheelchairs, walkers even sometimes canes or walking sticks.

"Shelter in place," anyone?
