Alt Text? What makes good alt text: when details matter

What makes good Alt Text / Audio Description?


Alt Text and audio description of videos are both partly a simple communication task and partly creative writing, a quest to convey the most topical information as economically as possible.


In this case, recently the subject of autonomous vehicles has come up a lot. Everything about autonomous vehicles is under development. Note particularly: the software and information that shapes how vehicles interact with the built environment or in this case, the lack of built environment. What most matters for the journey where this photo was taken: there are no sidewalks and more importantly no curbs anywhere. Autonomous vehicle software apparently does not yet know how to deal with this kind of road environment.
