It's Time for The DNC!

UPDATED.

The first time RantWoman remembers a Democratic convention in Chicago.

The RantFamily's very low-key neighbors had recently gotten a color TV and gave the RantFamily their hand-me-down black and white. The RantFamily was still figuring how to interact.

"Daddy, what's going on?"

Daddy was a junior college music professor. Combing piquant analysis out of the new electronic presence was not his strong suit.

RantWoman's first and only political convention ever.
In 1988, RantWoman lived in Bloomington IN. RantWoman lived in a neighborhood that voted VERY avidly. for Jesse Jackson. RantWoman has NO IDEA which meeting she was going to got her named the alternate delegate to the IN Democratic convention. The official delegate could not attend.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the trip was the ride to Indianapolis. RantWoman's chauffeur was a very astute African minister from the Second Baptist Church. Rev. Ernie Butler had many stories. One: he was the first African Americanto serve on the IN Federal Grand Jury.

RantWoman is not good at schmoozing and was not anywhere close to anything interesting such as wordsmithing the platform. There was some point of contention about whether to seat a white or Black delegation from a city in Northern IN, but RantWoman wasn't anywhere near that either.

This was before the age of blogging. RantWoman is probably nowhere near the level of social media influencer to try for credentials, but RantWoman is thrilled to think independent voices will also be there.

Seattle in Chicago
Both former Seattle city council member Kshama Sawant and the My Pillow Guy, Mike Lindell are in Chicago. Correction: Mr Aptonym, local commentator Jason Rantz is alive and well and sounding off in Elon's sandbox.

RantWoman so wishes Councilmember Sawant could have her feet on the ground a little more steadily. Even if RantWoman disagrees with a bunch of policies, RantWoman wants a candidate who can hit the ground running about global crises and Jill Stein just does not ring that bell..

#EndTheOccupation #CeaseFireInGazaNow

The DNC in Elon's sandbox: probably worth a full-scale rant all on its own. Just not tonight.

Finally, insights from Stephen Colbert. Don't miss the wayward Waymo item at the end.
