So there RantWoman was filtering long X / Twitter posts for connection to reality. Consider Leonhard Euler (umlaut needed). Besides being one of the most prolific mathematicians ever. Euler popped up on RantWoman's mind as someone who experienced progressive vision loss, seems to have had people he could rely on and definitely did not let a thing like Vision loss slow him down. First the X post and then a Wikipedia page, with references, for readers who might want to delve further.
Why should a mathematician keep a mistress as well as a wife?
— Math Files (@Math_files) May 29, 2026
because when the wife thinks you’re with the mistress, and the mistress thinks you’re with the wife, you have time to get on with your mathematics.
This Joke fits with Leonhard Euler who was the most prolific… pic.twitter.com/iKRLNWwvcu
A couple notes beyond a health Trust but verify reflex about many things on the interwebs these days
It took RantWoman a couple tries and hits at suggested links to hit the right orthography.
The Wikipedia entry is a virtual Who's who of scientists, mathmaticians, and political figures in Euler's era. All of this definitely invites more inquiry which RantWoman may or may not get to.
