...forgive....
Ummm, RantWoman knows you mean well. Forgive probably is on point somewhere, but it is NOT the point yet.
RantWoman's point: RantWoman needs assorted reasonable accommodations such as materials in alternate formats. RantWoman needs the materials in time for the events they are attached to. Over time after many vexations, RantWoman has now acquired enough technology that she can often cope with materials that arrive even last minute as she is on the bus enroute to a meeting RantWoman likes to have the same resources as people around her.
On Planet RantWoman, experience is mixed. RantWoman is QUITE grateful that some people who know her public meeting habits are extremely faithful about help in this regard. These public personnel are more than faithful enough often to hit RantWoman's "I cannot get as much read as I would like so we are going to have to wing it with what RantWoman remembers " strategy and some other attention to details points. In any case, RantWoman appreciates the abundance
Around RantWoman's faith community, there is PLENTY of room for improvement about the alternate format issue. RantWoman promises lurid and extravagant detail in a separate post. Anyone who is into praying over problems, RantWoman's faith community could stand some praying over about the problem! But back to forgiveness.
RantWoman writes here of materials in braille. RantWoman reads braille SLOWLY so before everyone rushes out to drown RantWoman in braille, read the other themes in this post and read the post promised above about particularly spectacular misadventures.
Does a blind woman suffering from cancer "forgive " the American Cancer Society for not having content in braille? Um no! The particular blind woman RantWoman has in mind reached out to one of the coolest disability rights law firms in the country and through a structured negotiations process got to an agreement that ACS would begin producing resources in Braille.
(On the other hand RantWoman knows plenty of blind people and others who are really grateful to be able to find good videos and audio content.)
Does a blind catholic just forgive and forgive and never wind up with materials in Braille? Um, NO!
Does a blind woman just "forgive" the Uber driver for feeding her some BS line about car trouble" when the real issues is a guide dog? Um, no! The blind woman listens carefully, monitors some things in the uber app, realizes the driver is probably still near, takes a llot of pictures with her smartphone, notices a car pulling away and reports this all to uber. The driver is no longer working on the Uber platform. Considering that there is a template legal case in the District of Columbia about guide dogs and taxicabs, it is a darned good thing Uber is also getting with the program about guide dogs.
Does a blind professional just "forgive" a church where he went with his daughters for some kind of homelessness relief project? The church found it perplexing to think of a task the blind father could do. RantWoman expects that the blind father probably did basically forgive the church. He has plenty else on his plate but had more than enough time to register his #disabilityinchurch moment all over the internet.
RantWoman's point: if people just keep forgiving and forgiving, then no one ever learns that there might be simple ways to make progress addressing the problems forgiveness is being preached about!
