Morning Rant: DO NOT Drive your SOV to this afternoon’s environmental
bill signing at Rainier Vista.
Gov. Jay Inslee will be coming to south Seattle this
afternoon to sign a number of environmental bills passed in this year’s
legislative session.
Later today, Governor Jay Inslee will be signing
·
the Food Waste Bill (HB 1114), the
Hydroflourocarbons bill (HB 1112),
·
the Energy Efficiency/Clean Buildings Bill (HB
1257) and
·
the Clean Energy Bill (SB 5116).
Everyone is invited to attend the signing at 3 pm at Central
Park across from Neighborhood House 4410 29th Avenue South Seattle, WA.
Now some custom RantWoman travel admonishments
Please DO NOT drive your SOV to this event. Parking will be terrible. Bus
and Light Rail connections are awesome. RantWoman will let bicyclists speak for
themselves.
Ride Link to Columbia city. Walk N on MLK to Columbian Way. RantWoman
prefers the W side of the street. RantWoman also prefers to cross Columbian Way
at MLK because there is a good accessible ped signal. Turn Left onto Columbian
Way and turn right on 29th Ave S. The park is about a block N of the
turn. Sidewalk is fairly new and the corners have ramps and truncated domes.
Or ride Metro Route 106 to Columbian way. Southbound, the walking
directions just omit the segment from the Light Rail. Northbound, it is
necessary to cross Martin Luther King. Cross on the N side of Columbian Way and
then follow the directions above.
These directions are great for anyone who can walk 2-4 blocks on decent
sidewalk.
If walking that distance from the light rail seems too much, there is
the hip and trendy download the new Via app to book a ride from the Columbia
City light rail to the event. Sometimes traffic gets disrupted for special
events but leave a comment to tell RantWoman your experience.
