Blindness Tourism with Bungee Cords

RantWoman is having bungee cord issues. Bungee cord and white cane issues.

After the Bungee Cord disintegrated

A couple days ago, the bungee cord in one of RantWoman’s canes collapsed, fell apart. RantWoman did not realize this until she went to deploy the cane. Instead of the usual joints snapping together, RantWoman heard clank, one cane section on the floor and the other 3 sections askew in her hand. Good thing RantWoman was at home or just across the breezeway from home.

Way too loose cord and just about right cord

RantWoman has two other canes of the same kind, except one had a pencil tip and the other has a roller tip. RantWoman grabbed the one with the roller tip. Turns out, when that one got a new bungee cord, the bungee cord was WAY too loose. Sigh. Hard to hold the folded cane together when the loop at the end of the bungee cord is too loose. PLUS the next day RantWoman learned that one of the joints on that cane needs extra twisting to fold up correctly. Bah!

Luckily, RantWoman also discovered she has a fresh unused roller tip she can swap for the pencil tip. Thankfully, the bungee cord tension on the cane with new roller tip is just about right.

Note to self: TWO canes now need new appropriately tensioned bungee cords. Ship off to place in MO …OR…ask the same local resource that got things too loose last time to FIX IT.

Ain’t blindness fun?
