RantWoman has now gotten part of her needed #A11y tirade off her chest. RantWoman has not heard back whether the second email was received but feels no obligation to torment the responsible staffer further about the poll to rename the University St. Station.

Scratch that: RantWoman tried the poll tonight and IT WORKED with JAWS and Chrome!

RantWoman thinks it would be AWESOME if people would choose tools that generate accessible content automatically. RantWoman has no opinion about why the poll previously did not work for RantWoman. RantWoman is though a little less touchy about ephemeral one-time things than she is about things like her bank or her pharmacy which need to work consistently over and over. Well, a little less touchy. See point above about generating accessible content automatically.

Here, though, we come to RantWoman's opinion about the actual topic being polled: how should SoundTransit rename the University St. station?

If RantWoman could stuff the ballot box, RantWoman's suggestion would be first to have the option of a write-in and then a write-in which matches none of the suggestions offered in the poll:

Art Museum and Benaroya Hall
This to RantWoman captures the two most important destinations near this stop.

Second Choice: Benaroya
Lots of things happen at Benaroya besides the Seattle Symphony.

Third Choice Symphony
Sounds nice. Not objectionable, but does not do justice either to everything that happens at Benaroya Hall or to the Seattle Art Museum directly accessible across 2nd Avenue from one of the station exits.

Nowhere: the other options suggested:

Seneca St. completely misses the point of the major destinations at that stop, Benaroya Hall and the Seattle Art Museum.

The various references to Midtown Arts district: when RantWoman thinks of Art district RantWoman tends to think more of Pioneer Square, Fremont or some other parts of the city. Just highlight the two biggest arts destinations near the station and be done with it!
