From time to time lately, RantWoman has been, via Twitter, checking out the anti-Putin protest scene in Khabarovsk, a city in the Russian Far East. For comparison #Хабаровск tweets run somewhat more cogent than the info streams found on #SeattleProtest.
But Back to Khabarovsk. The protests arose after the democratically elected governor Sergei Furgal was arrested and taken away to Moscow. Russian president Putin appointed a replacement government from the same party as Furgal (the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, a name which does NOT mean the same thing in Russia as one would assume from the name in English.), but all that did was provoke more protests.
Anti-Putin solidarity protests have occurred in several other Russian cities.
Note the stunning absence of boarded up windows.
Note the umbrellas. It was pouring the day of this march.
NOte: lead Singer Yury Shevchuk has been doing DDT since the 1980's. Really. And he is protesting again!
Abbreviated description: longstanding Russian rock band DDT performing in studio in St. Petersburg. Images of performers intercut with footage of 7/26/2020 march in Khabarovsk
The band's name: in English, the pesticide; in Russian "Children's House of Art." RantWoman thinks this naming is deliberate. When RantWoman needs to wander down another Internet rabbit hole, she will research the Russian name because RantWoman thinks there were probably such houses of art in many Soviet Cities.and that they were not to be confused with Palaces of Culture
