Recently a question came up in a RantWoman conversation. Part of RantWoman's answer involved the fact that during her freshman year in college, sometime long past admissions office promos, RantWoman learn that in the 19th century, the dorm suite where RantWoman and two other freshman women lived would have housed one Princeton man and his slave.
This revelation made RantWoman gulp. It is not exactly something likely to get put in promo material.
RantWoman brought this fact up with an African American alum of a different generation. That person said when they realized they were living in former slave space, they had a mental conversation with one of the slave memories: the past sucks. And now I am here studying on par with everyone else.
RantWoman is glad for both conversations.
