September is #DisasterPreparednessMonth
RantWoman's efforts in that regard:
1. #COVID is still with us. Get vaccinated and boosted with the new booster.
2. Keep masking and social distancing in public places; if you have the capacity to improve air circulation in some place you manage, DO IT.
3. Anyone whose #MutualAid instincts have been stressed almost beyond bearing, figure out what you need to do to renew the game. RantWoman is in this camp. Good thing maybe. Pandemic supply chain disasters continue. Recently RantWoman called a neighbor, a wheelchair user. RantWoman had not seen her in several days and was bummed to learn she has been stranded in her apartment for several days because her wheelchair has a dead battery. The lone wheelchair service company in the Seattle area has, um, a constant backlog on top of actual supply chain difficulties. So aside from chronicling such matters, RantWoman will collect phone numbers of a couple other people dependent on their mobility devices.
4. A lesson from Hurricane Ian: WRITE DOWN important phone numbers in case your cellphone goes dead and you need to make calls.
5. Do not spend too much time fretting about what a freaking expensive winter we could have given all the different geopolitical risk there is in the energy sector. RantWoman admits to trying a little bit to beat inflation by stocking up on non-perishable staples. RantWoman feels VERY grateful to have an awesome all-winter supply of good oatmeal though RantWoman may need some kind of prep ingenuity beyond the microwave to cope with extended power outage.
6. If you live in FL or TX, remember your governors' behavior during disasters and if you don't like it, #VoteThemOut.
RantWoman is thinking of TX gov Greg Abbott and Sen. Ted #CancunCruz's trip out of town during a horrendous snowstorm. The state's entirely independent power grid STILL has not been upgraded to make it more snow-storm worthy.
And enjoy this video about Ron DiSantis and his state's needs after #HurricaneIan and his past behavior toward NY and NJ after #SuperStormSandy.
