F*^*CK fentanyl, highly addictive opioid that can kill a person who ODs in minutes.
Recently, on the way back to RantWoman's apartment late at night, RantWoman noticed someone passed out in the lobby of her building, in front of the elevators. Passed out as in non-conversational and literally RantWoman was not sure the person was still alive.
RantWoman could not hear breathing and could not see for someone in a white shirt on a white floor whether the person was breathing, so RantWoman decided to run her hand along the person's side. Yes. Breathing. Very shallow breathing but breathing enough that when RantWoman called 911 and immediately got patched to medical as in a fire station less than a mile away, there were firemen at the door in minutes.
The person who had passed out went away in an ambulance. It did not seem like the person would have been in any condition to talk to police and RantWoman wonders why it would even occur to officers to try.
RantWoman did not recognize the person but does not know everyone who lives in her building.
F*^*CK fentanyl, on behalf of every family including RantWoman's with someone struggling with substance abuse, the quest for help, and REALLY TOUGH decisions that sometimes are necessary.
F*^*CK fentanyl, as a permission slip for police officers responding to a possible overdose to drive 74 mph down a city street, never mind a welter of other considerations including a fatal collision with a pedestrian
F*^*CK fentanyl as a permission slip for policy makers to propose even more police when there is a shortage of police officers AND investing in diversion, treatment, wrap-around services, housing would certainly help reduce the impacts of drugs for a fraction of the costs of policing.
F*^*CK fentanyl when there is no money for either treatment services or more policing because the latest police union contract wants to give police officers a 23% retroactive pay increase so some retirement age officers can walk away with bigger pensions, and PLEASE don't blame the "Defund the Police" movement for this situation.
F*^*CK fentanyl, spilling out of the mouths of politicians trying to blame illegal immigrants for a scourge mostly proven to enter the US through ports of entry
F*^*CK fentanyl on behalf of young people who live either in the middle of a proposed SODA zone or right next to it who are making bad career choices.
F*^*CK fentanyl on behalf of a friend who lives a block off Aurora in the middle of the free fire zone proposed as a SOAP (Stay out of areas of prostitution) zone
There.
Now RantWoman will resume efforts to offer more tightly edited commentary.
